Slow room joins show an unclear error #19717

Steps to reproduce

try to join a big room that isn't yet synced to your homeserver at all
click join
wait for sync

Outcome

What did you expect?

we can join multiple rooms at once with Make join button on space hierarchy action in the background matrix-org/matrix-react-sdk#7041 - this message should be more precise
join the room or stop spinning

What happened instead?

unclear error
keeps spinning even after accepting the error
eventually joined the room
