  1. Use the app
  2. BING
  3. ???

Outcome

What did you expect?

The notification noise to be played when there's a notification

What happened instead?

Noise played, no pending invites, mentions, etc anywhere in the client: checked from another client and in all my spaces to be sure.

Windows 10

Element Nightly version: 0.0.1-nightly.2023021602

We should add some logs whenever we bing so it's possible to audit which/when instance made the bing (good reference point in the logs).

I feel like I've experienced this in the past couple days but I have ~5 Element instances going with various app.gitter.im test accounts in various tabs so I'm never sure.

I'm getting this some time after startup, which feels like a message got decrypted somewhere and is triggering the noise part of the notifications system, but not the badges (somewhere we're missing a is_backfill check, or similar)

Confirmed this is happening to rooms when the threads list is finally decrypted (the decryption loop on my account during startup takes hours to complete)
