Alt + Space shortcut not responding

Prerequisites

• I have searched open and closed issues for duplicates.

Describe the bug

When adding / replacing a shortcut with Alt + Space the shortcut is saved successfully but not responding.

To Reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Go to 'Keyboard -> Shortcuts -> System'
2. Replace the 'Applications Menu' shortcut with Alt + Space
3. Press Alt + Space to trigger the new shortcut.
4. Notice nothing happening.

Expected behavior

I expect this Alt + Space shortcut to work for the 'Applications Menu' or any other shortcut.
If this shortcut is supposed to be invalid, I'd expect an error message after trying to create it.

• I'm using the latest version from git that I've manually compiled
• I'm using the latest released stable version

This has happened to me, I believe if you configure the keybind again it will work, but after certain updates it seems to break again.
I also notice it happening with shortcuts like cmd + l to lock the screen, which I use often.

I'm also on the latest stable.
