It would be nice if you could offer the font via woff2.
It would be optimum to inherit the font out of the theme's default settings.

Maybe it would be also an idea / impulse to use system fonts and do not deliver any font.
That would IMHO not disturb the reading experience on pages and blog posts not that much and will save to deliver font data to the customer.

Just a note: Currently WordPress/Gutenberg uses .ttf fonts by default, however that will change soon to use woff/woff2 (see WordPress/gutenberg#57884 - related to WordPress/google-fonts-to-wordpress-collection#1)

That may be. But just because Gutenberg does it doesn't mean that it's good and gives you carte blanche to do the same :)
The font size of TTF is larger than that of woff and woff2 and not every website has a good browser caching setup.
So what can be saved should IMHO also be saved.Especially since an additional font is loaded that cannot be easily adapted or deactivated (on already used fonts)

I never said that.

What I was saying above is that WP will soon change to woff2 as well, so it would be good to use woff2 here as well.

All good points. The custom TTF font used in the plugin is only ~1 KB in filesize.
