1st ETE Toollkit hackathon (discussion thread)

We are planning a hackathon towards the official release of ETE v4. Core developers will probably meet in person for ~5 days, but external contributors and people interested in following the event, providing feedback, or helping with logistics are very welcome to join in a remove way.

I'm interested in participating in this. As we discussed, I'd like to build a ETE4 extension centered on quantitative data analysis and visualization across species, using gene expression as test case.

It'll depend a lot on the status of ETE4 (how robust core methods and visualization are already) and, well, how much time I'll have available (too often I start gigantic projects without the time to finish them).
Perhaps, I could start building the skeleton of the module for integration with pandas, which would be the basis for table-like visualization and other standard plots from an existing plotting library.

Thank for you Hackathon notification and congrats on the ETE devs!

We would like to hear or chat about possibilities to incorporate visualization function to process single cell genomics datasets. For example, Cancer Genomics and clonal evolution based on alignment of samples e.g.1 SCITE or e.g.2 CellTagging. I cc one person from the SCANPY core dev team @Koncopd. In case interesting, keep us in the loop in case of any upcoming meeting. Happy to chat!

awesome! we are still planning the logistics... Probably in september, but other dates are possible. I will send a doodle soon.
