In Microsoft IME, pressing ㄱ twice doesn't make ㄲ, but in Fcitx5-hangul, it does. If it's already doing so, why not apply the same idea to vowels, too, and make pressing ㅐ, ㅖ twice make ㅒ and ㅖ respectively? This way, I would not need shift at all to type Korean.
Of course, some people may not like this and want MS IME-like behaviour. For this, you could add an option in the settings, something like "Make double pressing a key act like shift". This way, those people can get what they want, and this option could be disabled by default.
