Bug: Strange error when trying to open PDF files #16478
Comments
Thanks for the report, can you try reinstalling Files. You can backup your settings in Files settings > Advanced > Export/Import |
Hi @Josh65-2201 It didn't work. Sadly. =( I've uninstalled the app, deleted all files and folders, and registry entries as well, but nothing has changed. |
How can I help? How can I provide you with more information about the error? |
Can you try setting a different program as default and then back to your preferred one, I'm not sure why it would use two different programs for pdf files. |
I installed Sumatra PDF, set it as the default program to open PDF files, and nothing changed. The same problem persisted. =/ |
Description
Hi.
A strange error has been occurring when trying to open PDF files from Files app.
When the default PDF program appears in the 'type' column (highlighted in red), the file opens normally when double-clicked. However, when the default program does not appear in this column (highlighted in green), the file does not open when double-clicked. It only opens by using 'Open with' and selecting the default program.
Steps To Reproduce
Unfortunately, I don't know how to reproduce the error.
I simply have several PDF files on my computer, and some open normally when double-clicked (the default program was recognized), while others do not open (when the default program was not recognized).
