TODO:
- Get concept reviewed
- Fix all the TypeScript compile and es-lint errors (yes, I suck at TypeScript, it's a hateful language)
- Add remaining nodeHandling configurations
- Implement deleteOnEmpty (see comment in mergedMetadataTransformer.ts)
- Write unit tests
