“All good things must come to an end”, so today we are announcing the 30th of June, 2024 as the End Of Life date for Garden 0.12.x. It has been a year since the first Bonsai release, where we introduced Actions, the new interactive development console, and the web dashboard which were welcomed with excitement and adopted gradually over the last 12 months.
It is now time to say goodbye to the old 0.12.x and make space for many more news and announcements, keep an eye on this space. 🙂
What does it mean for me and my team?
Garden 0.12.x will receive security updates until the 30th of June and then will be deprecated and not supported anymore. From now on, we are not going to back-port any more bug fixes or other changes from 0.13.x to 0.12.x.
If you are still using Garden 0.12.x we strongly recommend upgrading to the latest Bonsai release, which as of today is version 0.13.30. We wrote a guide on how to do that last year and you can find it in our docs: https://docs.garden.io/guides/migrating-to-bonsai.
If you are using the Garden Docker images in CI, the same applies: we’ll stop updating and supporting acorn and 0.12.x images, please make sure your pipelines are up-to-date.
In the guide, we tried to cover everything you might need when upgrading but we know migrating your tooling doesn’t always go as expected. If you encounter any issues during the upgrade, feel free to ask for help or any other questions you might have in the #help-and-getting-started channel on Discord. We are here to support you.
Finally, a big thank you.
Over the years we have had the chance to collaborate, interview, talk, and debug issues with many of you. You, our community, have created so many GitHub issues, content, and discussions that shaped and influenced Garden as it is today and how Garden will work and look in the future.
We are immensely grateful for the dedication, and we thank you.
Happy Gardening 🌱,
The Garden Team.
