2 tables after another merging into 1 table

it seems that when i try to display 2 tables below eachother, they merge into one table. please see attachment.

it starts to work when i add a horizontal rule between the 2 tables.

Do you have markdown_extra enabled? Does that make any difference? It's a config in system.yaml

i had
markdown_extra: false
and changed it to
markdown_extra: true

it does not seem to make any difference, the 2 tables still get merged into one.

We use the Parsedown markdown parser so any bugs related to how things render from markdown to html should be handled in that upstream project:

you're right, on http://parsedown.org/demo the 2 tables get merged as well.
