There are parallel forms for plural, short and regular forms of singular illative etc. At the moment everything is generated equally where parallel forms are possible. And often where they are not. Mechanism and rules to declare preferences by word groups (types) and by specific words needs to be implemented.

HJK has done some work in https://svn.code.sf.net/p/apertium/svn/branches/courses/2015-tartu/practicals/hkaalep/apertium-est/apertium-est.est.lexc -- that should be studied first. Also, the group preferences are present there.
