reduce object "verbosity" when used in irb/pry?

Performing any operation in a REPL session causes the document to first be fully displayed as an object when loaded. For a spreadsheet with 70 columns and 1000+ rows it takes a couple of minutes to simply print this to terminal, before any other action can be undertaken.

Is there a way to stop this?

EDIT: Actually the dreadfully long display is the ENTIRE response body when the document is fetched
