No, I don't think so.
I authored PR #2175 in order to push things further and get the shortcode removed. |

The Docsy
figure
shortcode, at this point in time, doesn't appear to add any value over thefigure
implementation provided within Hugo. In fact, the Hugo implementation is more robust providing support for both page and global resources. On one of my pages, in the website I help maintain (Interlisp.org), I have an image embedded in a the page. This works fine on the production website but breaks on my staging/test site,stumbo.github.io/InterlispDraft.github.io due to changes in the baseURL. I'd like to replace the raw
img
with thefigure
shortcode to make it more robust. However, it fails. In my investigation I found that the vanilla Hugo
figure
shortcode works but the Docsy override fails. From what I can tell, the Docsy version was put in place several years ago to make up for shortfalls in Hugo's earlier versions offigure
. Since then, it appears, Hugo has continually updated thefigure
shortcode and obviated the need for the Docsy version. While I realize I can solve my issue by dropping the vanilla Hugo
figure
shortcut into my codebase, a better approach would to be to remove the Docsy one, unless there is a specific need it still fills. Is there any specific need that the Docsy
figure
shortcode still addresses? And, if not, what is the path to deprecating and removing it?Beta Was this translation helpful? Give feedback.
