At this time, we have automatic CI builds for Linux, but not for OSX, Windows or FreeBSD.

This is to track adding a Windows CI build, probably using Github Actions inside .github/workflow/.

I find that Windows/MSYS2 builds on the Github runner infrastructure are very slow (by around a factor of 10, see also #862 (comment)).

Whether that is inherent to Windows/MSYS2 and therefore cannot be solved at all, or whether there might be other build services available with faster Windows build machines, I do not know yet.
