looking at the plots (ground truth input vs prediction) as well as two luts i happen to have cameras for, i think their predicted curves have some sort of illuminant baked in, the results look distinctly more blueish than matrix or mkssf generated spectral profiles.

these are created using the adobe dng matrices, same as mkssf would, so i'm assuming they would not be any worse than ours.
alternatively/also we could include their measured input/ground truth in the PCA model of mkssf:
