Description

AWS released TPM2.0 ("NitroTPM") support for EC2 a couple of days ago. With this, EC2 instances can store private keys in the TPM2.0 enclave instead of on-disk, which is really neat stuff.

New or Affected Resource(s)

  • aws_ami

Potential Terraform Configuration

Maybe something like

resource "aws_ami" "example" {
  name                = "terraform-example"
  virtualization_type = "hvm"
  root_device_name    = "/dev/xvda"
  boot_mode = "uefi"
  tpm_support = "v2.0"

  ebs_block_device {
    device_name = "/dev/xvda"
    snapshot_id = "snap-xxxxxxxx"
    volume_size = 8
  }
}
