Summary

Windows 10, --version shows 22.08.1.

Clicking with the mouse cursor to switch places works fine, I just can't do it without the mouse without having to go back to normal mode to move around and then going back to insert mode. The arrow keys work in visual mode.

Tried on CMD, Alacritty and WezTerm and they're all identical in functionality, including this bug.

Reproduction Steps

I tried this:

  1. hx then i for insert mode. Type some text and then press the back arrow.

I expected this to happen: On my macbook, in insert mode, the cursor (terminal cursor) responds to the arrow keys just like it does in normal and visual mode, moving the cursor.

Instead, this happened: While in insert mode, the cursor is completely unresponsive to the arrow keys until I go to a different mode.

Helix log

Nothing to show here as it outputs nothing to log

Platform
