Can you please point me to where I need to modify to change the typeface of the header? Using markdown for bold, italics etc in _index doesn't work so I assume this must by somewhere in the theme?

I would also like to know how to add custom background colours or images for header and footer. I find most of this theme visually appealing, except the homepage. I need a way other than a side image to add some visual appeal.

How do I change the column widths in the homepage? I'd like to make the image on the homepage smaller and the text bigger. Thanks!

I second @ntthung's question: I want to make the image on the homepage much smaller than it currently is, with or without changing column widths. I haven't been able to figure out which file to tweak for this, so I'd appreciate any help! Thanks.

Hello Alison! Thank you for developing this beautiful theme. I am wondering whether it is possible to add talks with a future time. I tried to post an announcement of a future talk in the talks section, and it showed up in the local preview, but not in the built site. Thank you!
