Left to developers discretion.
Who does this impact? Who is this for?
Improves pilot awareness for pilots using and relaying on different flight modes and horizon sidebars.
Additional context
Comming from civil aviation when an autopilot mode is changed there use to be some kind of indication to draw pilots attention no matter if the change is automatic or manual. It can be of several types like momentary bold letters, blinking text, color change or a box surrounding the text, so the pilot is aware that the autopilot flight mode has just changed.
Again from civil aviation "CRS" is normaly used for course and "CRZ" for cruise.
The (right) horizontal sidebar use to be the altitude tape in electronic primary displays. Its marked with 0 feet on the bottom and increases upwards so when airplane is climbing the tape is moving down. That mimics the movement of the ground from pilots perspective so in blind conditions its just feels natural to see ground coming up to you or going further down away from the aircraft. I propose having the choice to set it either way for people who still like it as a variometer, eg. moving up when climbing and moving down on descent but doesn't make sense to be the default mode since there is already a much clearer OSD variometer available.
