Following the idea in #31, we could add an oscilloscope display, with the last piece of signal in time domain, cut as a multiple of the guesses target period.
With the proper auto-scaling of Y-axis, this should create an effect of static time signal that will move right or left depending on how far away we are from the target note.
I will make a prototype, an depending on the result, decide where to display it. It will probably require a large X/Y aspect ratio, so it should - optionally - replace the spectrum, until we have some kind of "dockable" or more flexible widgets.
