Artboard sizes from source documents

It'd be a handy feature to have the artboard sizes taken from the source documents. In some cases you may not want all the artboards to be the same size.

It would also be useful, for other purposes, to be able to insert an AI Multi artboards file into a multi-artboard illustrator file, respecting these parameters:

• Table size of the Original file
• Original AI file linked to target file

Now to do this thing, I have to go through a PDF file first and then put it into AI...
