Can we (easily) enable desktop support for the app by allowing mouse events to simulate finger & pen and defaulting to the main app? Might be a better new-user experience.

Started a desktop branch to experiment. I fiddled a bit with mouse & touch support and I think this is achievable.

Got a strong vote not to try to shoehorn this in, so I'm going to punt to WONTFIX.
