I have seen many write about the screens switching, and I'm not sure I'm experiencing the same exact issue as all of the suggested solutions didn't work here.
I have 2 (exactly the same) dell monitors connected to my MBP, and every now and then they switch, the layout stay correct (so moving the mouse from furthest left to furthest right is ok, but the desktops are being switched between the 2 external monitors.
I tried using displayplacer but what I could achieve is only switching the monitor's arrangement, without the desktops.
My current solution is Apple -> System Settings -> Displays -> Arrange... and then relocating the menu bar +1 to the right, till I finish a full cycle, when that is done the desktops return to their original place, though in both times displayplacer list returns the same exact output.
Am I missing something? Is there a way to perform that action with displayplacer?
Thanks!

I believe I have this problem as well. I have 2 exact same Dell 4k monitors. When I press the mission_control (f3) key the left monitor is "Desktop 1" (Space name) and the right monitor is "Desktop 2" If I open the lid on my laptop those virtual desktops will swap and put "Desktop 1" on the right and "Desktop 2" on the left. The physical location remain correct and I can move my mouse across the screens just as I would expect. But all the app windows that were on the right monitor are now on the left and all the app windows that were on the left are now on the right. Does this tool have some way to specify which monitor the virtual Desktop (Space) should be displayed?
That's the actual issue I have. Display arrangement never gets lost when closing/opening the lid, but the actual Desktops switch from the left display to the right display as both comments before mine.
The mouse navigates between displays consistently every time, but actual desktops change displays (while keeping the order correct)
