How do you install this on Archlinux ? #30
Comments
I'm not an Archlinux user. But I would be happy to support anyone in their efforts to help get this packaged for that platform. |
I have packaged this program for AUR. It is now available as a package. https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/hiptext/ |
So cool! I was so impatient to test this software. Thank you Exel232, i'm trying it right now |
It's working, thank again |
Wow thanks for packaging this! |
No problem. Used it to get a better grasp on Archlinux packaging. ;) |
I guess it's a good way to start :) |
@xiamaz Currently the package fails to install with this error: checking for freetype-config... no
configure: error: error: libfreetype-dev is required
==> ERROR: A failure occurred in prepare().
Aborting...

@aksh1618 This is a bit late, but there is a patch for this at https://github.com/DanManN/hiptext.git. Source: comment at https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/hiptext/#comment-675886. It has not been re-packaged for AUR yet (the patched build process is somewhat experimental, from what I understand). I was able to get it installed by following the "installing packages" instructions at https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Arch_User_Repository. Pretty new to this myself, but maybe this info helps someone. I can confirm it works in konsole (I am on Manjaro KDE) but fails as a ranger preview method. See issue #56. Kind of a bummer, since the output is a lot nicer that img2txt, and {w3m previews + ranger + konsole} don't mix well. EDIT: Wow, I somehow missed that DanMan's comment was actually directed at you, so you already know this... Anyway, now the info is here as well. Sorry for the necro. |
There is no aur package of this program available yet and I'm not doing very well with deps apparently so it would be nice if someone could help :)
