As it's related and there is not much information available about the "big brother" it might be a good spot here to gather details here:

Anyway, according to the datasheet the RCWL-0515 can be used at a supply voltage of 4 to 15 V, works at a frequency of 2.7 GHz and can detect objects at a distance of up to 15 metres
