Unexpected behavior with homebrew installed mise w/ fish shell

I'm probably missing something that should be obvious, but I'm at a bit of a loss as to how to resolve an issue I'm facing with mise and fish (both installed via Homebrew).

Manual Activation (MISE_FISH_AUTO_ACTIVATE=0)

• Autocomplete for mise does not work as expected (screenshot)
  • error: unexpected argument '--shell' found
• Mise-provided node correctly takes precedence over homebrew node

Automatic Activation (MISE_FISH_AUTO_ACTIVATE=1)

• Autocomplete for mise works as expected (screenshot)
• The homebrew provided node (a dependency of another package) takes precedence over those provided by mise (presumably this is just an issue with the homebrew path taking precedence over those from mise?)

For the manual activation you might want to use set -Ux MISE_FISH_AUTO_ACTIVATE 0 to make this available to child processes.

The activate_aggressive setting might help to enforce priority over homebrew.
