Count Down Delay Possible?

I have a motion detector that I want to get an alert on the first detection, all subsequent detections I would like to add a custom time delay before the next message can be processed. For example, I enter the room alert goes off...I'm working in the room for the next 30 minutes...moving and not moving (add time)...don't alert...after I have left the room (time count down to zero) then reset back to first detection.

If this is already possible I would appreciate any example that could be shared.
