The only way to load a password for a backend currently is to pass it via a command line argument, which if flood is managed via a systemd service requires putting a password directly into a systemd service file. This is generally considered to be pretty bad practice, and configuring your service to instead load passwords from a file, then use a secret provisioning service or just a protected read only file to actually load the password. This also helps keep passwords out of managed config services like ansible, opentofu, nix, etc.
The feature being proposed here is for password-passing arguments such as
--depass
to also have a corresponding--depassfile
which would take a path to a file containing the password.Beta Was this translation helpful? Give feedback.
