certainly not an issue, but is there a way to load themes from https://userstyles.org/styles/browse/irccloud?

Yup, under FEATURES in the readme.md:

Loads userscripts placed in ~/Library/Application Support/nimbus/Scripts

I have already placed the theme folder in Scripts. How do I go about getting it to load?

Only .js files will be loaded, you need a javascript snippet that loads your stylesheets. I saw one on userscripts.org before but I can't find it now since the site seems to be down
