Currently, aluminium has very few uses, mostly for a few TA4 machines and sensors, and ceramic material even less. Aluminium could be used for the TechPack stairs and other blocks, and ceramic material could be used for decorative bricks or other pottery.

Good points. But aluminium is a TA4 item and can't be used in earlier ages. But aluminium and also ceramic will be used for the TA4 collider and also for TA5 items, specially for the soon coming fusion reactor...
Aluminium could be in an alternative crafting recipe for the TechPack stairs. In our time it's used for that kind of object anyways. It's just a metal that is so easy to produce in large quantities once you have the infrastructure, I think it should be used for more stuff once you get there.
