I would also like to know how you achieved the result in the screenshot. For me it looks like this. I am using OceanicNext color scheme.

my problem was related to the "Naomi" packge that i've installed for jsx syntax.
after i deinstalled "Naomi" mdx worked.
see here: borela/naomi#183
