slow speed / bad performance on Linux

I've just installed kanata on Fedora Silverblue (downloaded compiled binary from Github). It works but is very slow. There is a noticeable delay from typing until the character appears, and some key presses aren't even registered. I've only added home-row mods. Any ideas?

What happens if you use an empty configuration but leave process-unmapped-keys as yes? Is there still a noticeable delay?

I suspect the issue might be slow releases with home row mods. Home row mods do cause a latency increase because the tap-activation triggers only on the release of the key.

There's no delay with an empty configuration. I guess I'll need to try another solution for home-row mods. Thank you for your reply!

I should note this is a problem inherent to the timing-based nature of tap-hold/home-row-mods and isn't unique to Kanata.

I personally disfavor mods on the home row and kept them on dedicated keys.

I think it's just how home row mods work. I eventually got used to it.

This is very strange. I run (a self-compiled) Kanata under both Win10 and Fedora-40 (non-atomic though) and make heavy use or HRMs (in fact, I use modified Miryoku config). No problems with speed. Granted, I had to do some mitigation specifically for HSMs.
