Recording Monthly Team Meetings #241
Comments
If (lots of) effort is required to get a good and consistent video recording solution up and running again my vote would be to invest that effort in improving the written notes we take. First lets find out what we'd have to do to get video back though. |
Where are we at now? I know Zoom has good video recording, but it is a paid feature of Google Meet. I think we're using @consideRatio's Google Meet account - can you check if this is technically possible and easy? |
I'm not positive but I think right now we don't record the video meetings, sorta per @betatim's suggestion that we instead focus on keeping good notes rather than having stored video. Someone correct me if I'm wrong! |
@yuvipanda I don't think our current google meet links are with my gsuite/workspaces subscription, but if we use my meeting link we can very quickly and easily get a recording created that probably also very easily can be uploaded to youtube for example. By default, they are stored away in a gdrive folder when recorded. I'm +1 for recording our meetings, which we currently doesn't do. |
Hey y'all—so I wanted to revisit our decision to record monthly meetings. There are a couple of logistical challenges we have figure out if we want to make this consistent.
First, I haven't been consistent at remembering to record these calls. That's my fault! Really sorry for dropping the ball there (especially to @pdurbin, who I failed to record at our last meeting!)
Second, I can only make every other meeting due to the timezone differences. We'll probably want to onboard someone in the European timezones with permissions to record both meeting times.
Third, our Cal Poly Zoom account has changed its permissions model. Until now, we've been sharing a single "Jupyter Zoom Account" with separate login credentials for recording. It looks like Cal Poly might not allow us to do this anymore... @Ruv7 and I are researching options to fix this issue (i.e. allow more people to record without using the same login). Until we come up with a solution, I can no longer record our meetings.
Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm working on this issue (and apologize for not getting to this sooner). I'll try to update the team here as I learn more.
Thanks, y'all!
