This should probably be split into multiple Android-version-specific pages. The look, behavior, and available options in K-9 Mail differ quite a bit depending on the Android version.

Fixing/updating notifications is the next big item on the roadmap. So we probably shouldn't spend too much time on updating this page until that work is complete.

@cketti Is the main change Android 8.0 / SDK 26, or are there other ones I need to be aware of?

It's complicated. Notifications have evolved quite a bit between Android 5 and Android 12. And there will most likely be a few more UI/UX changes before K-9 Mail 6.000 is done.

Leave this one to me. I'll update the notification page while the painmemory is still fresh.
