Hi,

I have already used switchbota a couple months ago to flash a set of plugs purchased from Amazon with great success using nrfConnect to initiate the update.

During the recent Prime Day sales I purchased another 4-pack of plugs which just arrived and am attempting to flash them but they are not connecting to the mitm server.

Both the original set of plugs and the new 4-pack shipped with firmware 1.3

With these new plugs, when I open the switchbot app I can see that it makes a request to the server (the output below is the app on my phone contacting the mitm server)

c:\Users\josh\Downloads\switchbota-1.1\server>node index.js
Server listening on port 80
::ffff:192.168.31.64 - /version/wocaotech/release.json

...but that is the only output that I get.

Just like last time, I am using nrfConnect to initiate the update process but it doesn't seem to be working as there is no further output produced and the only thing that happens when sending the command is that the light on the plug is turned on and will not turn off until it is unplugged.

I've tried re-downloading the switchbota-1.1 release, restarting the mitm server, and attempted multiple times with two plugs from the 4-pack and the results are the same each time.

The plugs continue to work fine in the switchbot app but I just can't seem to initiate the update process.

Any ideas/assistance would be appreciated.

update:

Progress!

I tried again with the last two plugs from the 4-pack and they accepted the update command, and installed tasmota, without issue.

Not sure what's up with the first two plugs but they still refuse to work. They definitely don't have tasmota on them (no tasmota hotspot available), and now they don't seem to want to connect/reset via the switchbot app either so they must be in some weird, in-between, state. Is there any method for recovery that doesn't involve breaking them open to solder directly to the esp32?

I've decided to crack the two stubborn plugs open, solder directly to the esp32 and flash them with my serial adapter. Still not sure why they refused to work ota. Oh well, nothing that can't be fixed with a few wires. Thanks for this project!
