Shadertoy provides the following for mouse input:

  uniform vec4 iMouse; // mouse pixel coords. xy: current (if MLB down), zw: click

Mouse input would need to be translated to fragment coordinates, and clicks routed to the 3D object under the pointer. Also, this requires an active pointer (ie. not during pointerlock).
