Sample using the technique described in Roy, N.; McCallum, A. Toward Optimal Active Learning through Monte Carlo Estimation of Error Reduction. 8.. The issue is that the paper only describes the sampling for classification, we'd need to see how to generalize to regression. An idea would be to heuristically just make histograms for y.
