is it possible to compile from git source for sqlx-cli?

e.g.

git clone https://github.com/launchbadge/sqlx.git
cd sqlx
cargo build --release
./target/release/sqlx-cli

yes you can, need to go to sqlx-cli and build in that directory.

git clone https://github.com/launchbadge/sqlx.git
cd sqlx/sqlx-cli
cargo build --release
cd ..
./target/release/./sqlx

Thank you it worked on my debian BUT

it did not worked on docker alpine:3.15

Dockerfile

FROM rust:1.60.0-alpine3.15 as builder_sqlx

RUN apk update && apk upgrade
RUN apk add build-base git openssl

WORKDIR /app

RUN git clone https://github.com/launchbadge/sqlx.git .
RUN cd sqlx-cli && cargo build --release

Issue is pkg-config is not found which does make sense because this package is not available on alpine but available on debian & ubuntu.

Any solution?

Did you try add pkgconfig to RUN apk add build-base git openssl to install the package ?

Actually, the package is pkgconf instead of pkgconfig. I think apk auto resolve the name for us via some kind of alias.
