Setting a variable to zero in a given iteration

Hi

In a specific time iteration, I change the boundary conditions and one variable must be constant.
I don't want to re-build the system or add/remove variables.

What is the best way to "deactivate" the variable for the iteration?
I am iterating through the dofs adding constraint rows, it doesn't seem clean...
