The user icon is mostly only shown in forum / Q&A anyway (and not in tournaments), so it helps to show it whenever relevant to discussions. Maybe expand to dev / streamer icons if it's helpful (?) to know if the player is a streamer when seeing them on TV, or if a developer is visiting the forums.

alternate icon suggestion:

rel #754, based on a discussion on IRC

Good idea. I personally like the green mod-icon from your first picture. Additionally, It would be a good idea that when mousing over said icon (in the forums, Q&A) it would say "Lichess Moderator" so that users know what that symbol means.

Yeah but you want to display it on mod request only, right? Not on every post?

Doesn't necessarily hurt to have it show everywhere relevant, but an option would definitely work.

Plus, making it request-based ([v] show the title) makes it difficult to judge when it should be shown for the poster. Anonymous mods would probably never use it at all anyway.

+1, as long as one has the badge he probably doesn't mind having that shown too. It's just making us more recognizable. It's generally good so that the userbase can see we are active and it's mostly good so that the ones who look for a reply from the staff in the forum can easily jump to that.

Closes lichess-org#754. Closes lichess-org#1092. Partial lichess-org#931.

This is possible for forum posts (also the first post of a topic) and Q&A
answers (not questions, because that doesn't seem useful at all).

Above the 'Submit' button, there is a checkbox to tell if you want to
display a moderator icon next to your name.

If a non-PublicMod tries to add this checkbox himself, the `modIcon`
Option[Boolean] is still set to None and no icon will appear.
