Support for DOCX native numbering?

I was wondering if you would consider adding support for native numbering for DOCX outputs. A similar request for pandoc-fignos can be seen here:

Most of the technical background has been worked out there.

I've been meaning to get away from format-specific hacks, not add more. I feel that increased complexity doesn't justify the result. However, separate format-specific packages are not out of the question. Still, that's a lot of work, and I'm somewhat short on spare time, so not sure if it'll happen anytime soon.
