How to provide a custom name to notification windows

We are using lita successfully, and the messages are coming through to our private chats as the username we specify, but the desktop popup notification is always "Lita".

Is there any way that can be changed?

Lita does not have desktop notifications. Whatever you are seeing is specific to the client software of your chat service.
