Create a minimal profile that only installs localgov_core.

This is to allow projects / sites that will only take a few modules, to avoid downloading and installing everything.
It's also for very custom versions.

May also need an associated project.

This was originally an idea that BHCC was toying with for adoption, though we are sticking with upgrading our existing site for now. Would this be useful for anyone? It would be a profile at just enables localgov_core. Otherwise this issue can close.

I know of a number of projects that are LGD based but just user directories and when starting these I've just composer required the bits I've needed.

This works fine when you just want some modules. A minimal install profile might be useful if there's some initial config that would be useful to include.

I was thinking the same today, for a separate directory site you don't really want service pages, service landing pages etc. But there is still configuration in the profile install that is probably useful as a starting point, date settings, admin settings sitemap settings etc.

I guess this would need to be a separate profile, unless there's a way to have sub-profiles.

There is this module that enables sub profiles. Extremely low usage but the functionality it offers is not overly complicated. Perhaps something to consider (or get inspired by) for the scenarios described.
