Increase Volume/Disk space (EBS)

  • Select the Instance, you want to modify, and select volume under storage.

  • In the volume page select, select the volume and click on Action -> Modify Volume -> Enter the volume size

  • Connect to the EC2/Cloud 9 Instance

  • To verify the file system for each volume, use the df -hT command.

  • To check whether the volume has a partition that must be extended, use the lsblk command to display information

  • The above output shows, xvda has one partition
  • Extend/Grow the partition
sudo growpart /dev/xvda 1

(OR)
sudo growpart /dev/nvme0n1 1

or

# resize filesystem
thirumal.mari:~/environment $ sudo resize2fs /dev/xvda1
  • Check after resizing
thirumal.mari:~/environment $ df -hT
