I had to search the code to find this statement to put in the build script to enable JUnit 5 on Android:

testInstrumentationRunnerArgument("runnerBuilder", "de.mannodermaus.junit5.AndroidJUnit5Builder")

This looks to me like a crucial step to getting it to work. Why it's not mentioned up front in the README, I cannot fathom.
