Turn GitHub Copilot chat results into clear and useful code documentation that stays up to date as your code changes. Swimm documents improve the accuracy and outputs of GitHub Copilot as these documents better understand your code as well as your organization’s tribal knowledge.
By adding this context layer, Swimm helps improve Copilot’s outputs, making it a more valuable tool for developers as it learns from documentation.

Demo
Checkout the demo video and learn how to generate documentation from your Copilot chats that are always up to date.
How it works:
- Chat with Copilot: Use GitHub Copilot as usual, getting answers to questions about your codebase.
- Generate documentation from Chat: Turn the chat into an document available for the whole team
- Add your insight: You can add additional insights to the document
- Continuously improve Copilot: The more documentation you create, the better Copilot becomes at giving outputs like your most experienced engineer
- Auto-updating documentation: Documentation stays up to date with every code change.
Prerequisites
- An active GitHub Copilot plan on your GitHub Organization.
- A Swimm account
- The organization owner must install and authorize the Copilot Extension for the entire organization.
- Each organization member needs to type
@askswimm
in the Copilot chat. This will display a popup prompting the member to authorize the Copilot Extension at the user level.
