(Is this the correct place to ask for feature requests in the Matrix Spec? I didn't find info on this anywhere.)
I would like the ability to create and use unique ID's to share with a person/group/online which don't link back to my Matrix ID in any way.
These ID's could be used to add me to a room or a DM.
If I delete them, there would be no way for any associated persons/rooms/communities to contact me again.
These ID's could be randomised or user editable. Not sure which is better. Maybe both.
Hence, my main Matrix account would always remain a secret, and all that would be shared with others would be these ephemeral ID's, ensuring that if any one of these ID's encounters any issues (like being entered into a spam database) then they can be gotten rid of without any problems and new ones can be shared with the concerned parties.
I'm envisioning something like what you can do with email: You have a permanent email account. Then for your job or for any specific purpose, you can create another email, from which you forward mails into a folder in your permanent email. This way, if you delete the job email, there is no way to trace your permanent one, and you get to keep the folder with past emails.
