From 0991a2da93b6b2010e6ef8f732ffdc3b5b382bab Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Andrew Morgan <1342360+anoadragon453@users.noreply.github.com> Date: Mon, 5 Oct 2020 14:57:46 +0100 Subject: [PATCH] Allow ThirdPartyEventRules modules to manipulate public room state (#8292) This PR allows `ThirdPartyEventRules` modules to view, manipulate and block changes to the state of whether a room is published in the public rooms directory. While the idea of whether a room is in the public rooms list is not kept within an event in the room, `ThirdPartyEventRules` generally deal with controlling which modifications can happen to a room. Public rooms fits within that idea, even if its toggle state isn't controlled through a state event. --- UPGRADE.rst | 17 +++++++ changelog.d/8292.feature | 1 + synapse/events/third_party_rules.py | 51 +++++++++++++++++--- synapse/handlers/directory.py | 10 ++++ synapse/handlers/room.py | 9 ++++ synapse/module_api/__init__.py | 67 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ tests/module_api/test_api.py | 56 ++++++++++++++++++++- tests/rest/client/third_party_rules.py | 31 +++++++----- 8 files changed, 223 insertions(+), 19 deletions(-) create mode 100644 changelog.d/8292.feature diff --git a/UPGRADE.rst b/UPGRADE.rst index 49e86e628fa4..5a683122178e 100644 --- a/UPGRADE.rst +++ b/UPGRADE.rst @@ -75,6 +75,23 @@ for example: wget https://packages.matrix.org/debian/pool/main/m/matrix-synapse-py3/matrix-synapse-py3_1.3.0+stretch1_amd64.deb dpkg -i matrix-synapse-py3_1.3.0+stretch1_amd64.deb +Upgrading to v1.22.0 +==================== + +ThirdPartyEventRules breaking changes +------------------------------------- + +This release introduces a backwards-incompatible change to modules making use of +``ThirdPartyEventRules`` in Synapse.
