'suspicious activity' on Instagram account

Hey there, mautrix-instagram is a wonderful tool, I'm really happy with it.

Recently (in the past couple days) Instagram has been telling me that there is 'suspicious activity' on my account; it's definitely correlated with connecting this bridge. I'm guessing maybe the bridge is communicating with Instagram in some way that sets off its suspicious activity detection mechanisms or something?

Has anyone seen this before? Any suggestions on how one might fix it? (I'm happy to get my hands dirty, just not quite sure where I might start debugging this one.)

Could it be you are using a VPS to host the bridge? I am hosting mine at home and haven't seen such problem just yet.

I'm hosting it from home, so it should be the same IP as my phone is using. I haven't noticed anyone else having this issue in the Matrix channel, so, I am wondering if somehow I have ended up with something different about my Instagram account.

At some point (when I work up the motivation to look into this more deeply), I'll try seeing if the mautrix-instagram service is giving any useful logs that might point to the issue. But, I haven't done that yet.

I'm a little late to the party, but I think i'm having the same issue, instagram prevents me to follow saying "We restrict certain activity to protect our community".
I'm also self hosting this bridge.
I'm wondering if it has something to do with the fact i used some "hidden" feature for common users as reply with work with the api but cannot be done with the instagram's app or the instagram's website. Same thing for reacting with different emoji than ❤️ to a message.

Note: i'm not getting away from this bridge it's just a wonder to respond to message from a computer.

Update: after 24h i was able to follow people

@grimhilt those features are only disabled in the EU version of the app. other users can do those things, they are not hidden
