Mouse Utilities>Enable Find My Mouse (Enabled by default!?) #14837
Comments
We're currently working on something that displays all new features after an update (SCOOBE). Did you know that you can disable find my mose for games in the settings? |
Aaron, thank you for the reply. The issue is not whether there is an ability to turn it off during a gaming session but rather i wasnt aware it was on and spent a good 20 mins looking thru accessibility settings on Windows 11. For some reason in my mind i figured Microsoft in its infinite wisdom decided to push this feature on everyone. Turns out it was coming from PowerToys. |
We acknowledge your issue. But just for getting a feeling, would it have helped when after the update of PowerToys a window popped up which would have explained the new features? |
That would work. Again, thank you for the reply and i appreciate the software. You are doing some excellent work and i recommend it to most everyone i know with Windows. We can close this ticket out. |
Thank you for your recommendations of the software! We will close this issue when a core team member triaged it. |
Is there a way to change the option of find my mouse from Lctrl to any other key? If so, anyone can guide me? |
See #14638 for how we are changing the activation method. :D |
@serialtoon what game? |
I'm guessing any game that doesn't do full screen. In my case Halo Infinite as it only does Borderless Window. Downloaded and installed via the Xbox app on Windows 11. |
Thanks for info. This is tracked via issue #14082 |
I second this. Keeping this on by default has become a huge annoyance for many users. |
Microsoft PowerToys version
0.51.1

Area(s) with issue?
Mouse Utilities
Steps to reproduce
No steps needed. The function "Find my mouse" is enabled by default. As someone who games on their PC, this was a huge annoyance and i figured it was a function of Windows 11. Turns out this is enabled by default. Pressing CTRL twice highlights the mouse and in many games, pressing this key more than once in succession is not uncommon.
✔️ Expected Behavior
This function should be disabled by default.
❌ Actual Behavior
Its enabled by default causing annoyances while gaming and i suspect other applications.
